André Gauché
André Gauché was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and attended Rustenburg High School before serving in the South African Defence Force as a Physical Training Instructor and gunner. He later studied at Rhodes University, where many of the events that inspired Scoundrels, Scatterlings & Scholars took place.
After university he worked as a professional hunter and safari guide in Botswana and South Africa, managing safari camps and guiding throughout the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and Kalahari regions. Later he joined Sun International, where he served as Group Editor and Gaming Marketing Manager at Sun City. Thereafter he founded his own publishing company and pioneered annual trade exhibitions for the African casino industry.
Today he combines his experience as an outdoorsman, journalist and tourism entrepreneur to preserve the stories, characters and adventures that shaped a remarkable life in Southern Africa.
He lives at his family lodge on Myoli Beach in Sedgefield, Western Cape and is still actively involved in tourism development.
